What is it about Tequila that makes people so drunk?

I always see and hear people saying they get drunk really quickly off of Tequila. I drink whiskey (3 cups), and then I get sort of drunk. People say they drink a couple of shots of tequila, and then they get drunk off their ass.

    More than likely the tequila has a higher alcohol content.

    It doesn’t affect me – I can drink a whole bottle of a good anejo, and not feel a buzz. Cheap Cuervo however, gets me a little, but not like whisky. Must be a personal chemistry thing?

    I agree, personal chemistry, and how much food you already ate before you started drinking.
