A&E Intervention – Andrea and Ricky Pt. 3

Not long ago, Andrea, 31, decided to follow in the footsteps of her mother and grandmother and become a nurse. It was a field in which she excelled and was revered by colleagues and friends. But all the while, Andrea was hiding a dark secret–a growing crack addiction. Now she’s lost her job and relies on several male friends to buy her drugs. Her family is terrified that she may never recover. Their only hope is an intervention. Growing up, Ricky seemed to be on a path to greatness. He was a straight-A student, a star athlete and named one of the three brightest students in school. He joined the Marines, where he served as a police officer. But what started as experimentation with drugs has turned into an out-of-control heroin addiction. Ricky’s friends and family fear for the worst but hope an intervention will be his best chance for getting his life back. *I am stating that I have no intentions of selling these videos. I don’t make any money off of them, nor do I have intentions to do so. I post them simply for viewing. All video content is a production of and belongs to A&E.*

your comment makes no sense. alcohol/heroin are not stimulants, and pot is a hallucinogen. stimulants, while addictive, are not too difficult to get off of. the rebound effect of excess stimulation (getting hooked on coke, meth, adderall, etc) is CNS depression- sleepiness, lethargy, etc.

coming off of depressants is very difficult because the rebound effect is over-excitation- this causes anxiety, panic, and even seizures. heroin withdrawal is rough but alcohol withdrawal is deadly.

Do heroin and you will see that it isn’t just addiction but it is your life. Pot and alcohol isn’t even close to addicting compared to most stimulants.

Or how about the house of a drug dealer ? or perhaps informing the authorities of the dvd’s they sold ? lol . Drug dealers get a immunity when they make these documentarys inorder to have a better informed public on the seriousness of the problem. I think them turning a blind eye the the crimes commited in teh documentary is justified when you compare the people it educates

  5. crushwack07 Says:

Yeah, I did pick up on that. Would producers and camera-men not have some kind of responsibility to inform authorities of impaired drivers?

I feel for the parents. I thought the sequence where the mother gave Andrea $100 dollars was typical. She knew the “guy” would have the “upper hand” if she didn’t and take advantage of this. I understand the idea of “tough love” an intellectually I agree with it, but when you love someone it is hard to enact “tough love” because there can be consequences. I’m an ex addict and worked in the Sub Abuse field for years. I’ve seen “tough love” backfire badly, but intellectually I agree w/ it

Ricky in the bathroom reminds me of me when I was shooting dope. Fucking dangerous stuff, man. Everything about him reminds me of me when I used to shoot dope.

  8. Havixus Says:

I fucking DESPISE stimulants. Makes me sick to my stomach to see people snorting coke and smoking crack/meth.

addiction is curable and if someone really loves a person who is struggling with addiction the only way to do it is to cut them off.

in my younger days, i drank a little too much. i wasn’t ‘raging,’ but it was affecting my life in negative ways. why would someone hold on to something that is not benefiting them?– addiction. if this chick didn’t have her parent’s money her problem becomes her own and no longer everyone else’s, and you come much closer to addressing those in that scenario.

though they are making massive mistakes what would it take to fix it…I don’t know that you have the answer and I know I certainly don’t. What I do know mr var-in. -is that tough love goes a long way. you and I likely do know know what miss mom here is experiencing…Can you imagine if she showed more love and less judgment and less…condiscending words to her daughter?! this is a generational disaster and nobody is perfect and it will take a miracle to fix, i believe…

@rrush2214 I used to feel that way before I got sober. I would think to myself, “I may drink a liter of Vodka and smoke four grams of weed every day, but at least I’m not that guy.”

  14. halfblackguy Says:

    one shoot one kill…..hoorah!

  15. VariedInterest Says:

Agree or not, you are demonstrably wrong. They are making massive mistakes, but your misguided social Darwinist assumptions are statistically the most dangerous and least useful tactics. A high percentage of those people die in that situation very quickly compared to supported treatment. You are proof of how dumb most people who watch these sleazy programs are.

  16. timekillerrr Says:

    its all ab0ut weed

  17. cooldude3010 Says:

    REALLY SCARY.

Yeah I think so. They are definitely a huge enabler by allowing their kids to stay in the house doing what they’re doing. If I had ever done any of this crap during highschool I would be told that I am not welcome to live in my house, simple as that.

  19. HollisterGirl128 Says:

chucking them out just puts them on the street . they will still do the drugs.
should just throw them in rehab.
