An old friend of mine has recently started dating a girl who is described as an “ex, heavy meth user”. Who knows about the ex part. My friend seems different, spacey, unable to concentrate, very forgetful. Is it possible that they are both using? Or am I just overly concerned? Thanks.

Some common side affects are “tweaking” which is when a person displays a variety of tics, twitches and unusual repetitive behavior. Noticeable teeth grinding is another one. When actually high on meth the user can seem very hyper, speaking and acting very quickly, not finishing thoughts or sentences. They can undertake multiple strange projects, like dismantling vehicles, at any time of the day or night.
Meth use is not pretty.

First obivous Physical symptom. “Look at the Pupils, are they ENLARGED when they shouldn’t be??”
Secondary symptoms: Unable to keep a straight train of thought. When speaking to them, there ideas branch of into MANY directions. Talk Faster, Hyper, etc.
and Lastly: Weight Loss, and Paranoia. Long time addicts are VERY paranoid.

Inability to concentrate, forgetfulness are some symptoms. Other things to watch for are teeth grinding, inability to keep the chin and mouth still, picking at hands, nervousness. Long term chronic users sometimes will hyperextend their fingers, as if they’re trying to stretch their hands as long and wide as they’ll go. Not sure what causes this side effect, but when I was in the truck parts biz, I saw several “alleged” meth head truck drivers, and many of them had the hand action and jaw grinding going on. Also watch out for very rapid speech and hyperactivity. You are not being overly concerned. You are being a good friend.

They will become very jittery (tweak) and be very paranoid. Look at the puple should not be pin point small. They should be able to focus. They can not sit still, and yes being spacey may have something to do with it. They will lie throught anything.
