I don’t think you should ask people online about this.Ask your doctor.Cause some babies shouldn’t have it too early cause then develop allergies. My 10 month old couldn’t eat cereal at the regular age cause the doctor thought she may get allergies cause her sister has eczema.

ask your dr before you add cereal. most dr recommend doing this between 4-6mo, so wait for the go ahead. babies go through spurts of growth, sometimes they are big and others are small. he may just be in a spurt
good luck

def. a growth spurt at 3 months. i was constantly nursing my son. go ahead and add a little cereal to his bottle. they say your not suppose to until 6 months but hey our parents gave us cereal from day one and we turned out just fine!

My guess is that this question should only be answered by a Pediatrician. However, since I have a one year old – I could GUESS taht three months is way to early for anything but breat milk or formula. Typically 6 months is about when baby cereal is introduced…BUT ask you Doc.

It’s a growth spurt. Is he really less than 7 lbs at 3 months? It’s ok for him to drink more – avoid the cereal though until your Dr. says it’s a go. Have fun!

If he is already drinking an 8 ounce bottle and still seeming like he wants more, I would talk to his doctor about starting cereal. I would like to point out that is is *never* recommended to put cereal in a bottle, no matter what your mother says worked with you. It is important for babies to drink their milk and *eat* their food. The doctors recommend beginning cereal between 4 and 6 months, but that is a guideline and every baby is different. Good luck with your hungry little guy!

a growth spurt is all
No problems …. no cereal….btw, you don’t drink cereal, you eat cereal with a spoon

Not a dumb question. Your baby probably is ready for cereal, but I’d take him to the doctor to be safe.

I think you should do what you think is best you see that you baby is still wanting more you should add a little to the milk but don’t do it to often your baby will get us to after time but don’t force it on him if he don’t like, and if you feel that it is working tell your doctor about and let him know how often and how much you put into it. Your the mother of the child your around the baby all day do what you think is best.

My son did that and my dr told me that i could put the cereal in his bottle everytime that he ate. She said that for every scoop of formula you put you put a scoop of cereal and he does really good now he is 5 months old and he weighs 16 pounds.

American academy of Pediatrics recommends waiting till at least 6 mos to start solids including cereals. http://www.askdrsears.com/html/3/T032000.asp
Babies need to have mature enough intestines, and be developmentally prepared for solids.
Even with cereal, you can actually do more harm that good-increasing GI distress, (gassy, coliky behaviors), allergies…Talk with your pediatrician, but I would definately wait AT LEAST till four months, but really till 6 mos is considered best.
Many people will say oh, I did it it’s fine, but more and more research is showing that it’s actually not good at all for little babies.
Search starting solid food on the web and you’ll get a wealth of information.
Best of luck to you and your baby
