if you know some one who has an alcohol problem and…?

If someone you know has an alcohol problem that they have asked for help with continues to abuse it what do you do? At what point do you say enough? I have a female friend who is a binge drinker. Her family is a great friend to alcohol. They have seen alcoholism take a family member and they do not change. I do not drink much maybe 5 – 10 drinks a year. I sometimes feel like I should not even be around them because of how much they drink. When as a friend do you tell yourself to stop the relationship because it drains you?

First you should know that this friend is sick and until they understand this they’re going to keep failing. It usually takes many times to overcome this disease. But you cannot be brought down with your friend and that’s what sometimes happens. If you want to stick around find a support system for yourself such as al-anon. Good luck to both of you.
