There’s no magic cure for alcoholism. To truly change you have to want to change. When you do want to change then consider AA and/or rehab and quit being a whiny pus_sy.

just stop, it takes willpower and you have to want to. it is a rough road, but you are setting yourself up for major health problems in the future.

Ha ha AA sucks dude, I have been forced to go lol. But you know what made it easier for me to quit drinking was just to quit I know it may sound an seam hard but try not to put yourself into a situation where drinking will be a problem…Or you can just try to drink less…or do what i do smoke a shit ton of weed lol then you wont have the drive to get up and take your lazy ass to the refrigerator for a beer lol good luck in slowing down or stopping…

It sounds like you recognize your alcohol problem and are willing to make a change. That is half the battle. My advice: Ask God for help. He will help you straighten out. Find new friends. Hang out at new places where alcohol is not served. Ask for help. Open up to someone. Being only 19, you have most of your life ahead of you. Make the most of it without alcohol. Go to college or training.

Im just gonna give you the knowledge I have on this. I dont think you need AA, since you are already aware you are an alcoholic. But later in life, it can help for support to stay sober. I suggest getting medical help from your doctor. This is why, I was told from an drug counselor that being an alcoholic is actually more dangerous than recovering from a drug. It has serious side effects on your body, and you may need medication, to help get you through this. Talk to your doctor, one that is familiar with alcoholism, and see what they recommend. Hope this helps.

Honestly, the best thing to stop drinking is a wake up call.
Just think, if you are this much into your alcohol, this will probably be the thing that will kill you in the end.
Maybe one day, when you have children, they will be your reason for stopping, to stay alive as long as possible and give them the mother they deserve.
Or maybe you just need someone to talk to that isn’t involved in any organisation like AA.
Leave me a message if you ever wanna talk, i don’t mind.
    Hope this helps a little.

Try identifying what excuses you make to drink and the routines and then change them. Never drink more than 1 in a row without having a trully horrible drink eg,warm cordial between. Make sure you have to drink that drink first before you go for another of your alchoholic one.

I know it’s hard but just stop. Don’t hang around people who drink. If you have to, find some new friends to hang out with. Maybe, find a new hobby that interests you. Put your energies into that. Also, I know you don’t want to hear this but it’s true – to really want to quit you have to want to yourself. Nobody but you can make this decision.

You stated that you have already tried AA and hated it. Did you really give it a try? I’m talking more than a month? It takes time. Rehab is the same. These are not miracle cures but solutions to a problem that could be / will be harmful to you for the rest of your life.

    Good luck.

your yahoo name is capt morgan…dude u dont need rehab or AA, you just need a slight modification in your lifestyle. honestly, ur 19, u really dont need to stop drinking…just learn to do it in moderation. when i was 19, i drank so much it was ridiculous. im 25 now, and i cant even remember the last time i got absolutely wasted..by the time youre my age, you are so busy with work/school/women/life that you just dont get the chance to drink heavily like u did when u were 19. ull kind of miss it.. the important part about my excessive drinking when i was 19 though, was that it didnt affect my life negatively, cuz i didnt LET IT. make drinking your weekend treat. make school your 9-5 on the weekdays, and tell yourself, oh man this friday, after i ace my f’ing exams, im gonna get wasted. as long as u have a friend to make sure u get home safely, ull be alright, and i guarantee by the time your 22-23, ull have realized there are more important things in life than getting wasted….especially when u realize girls think the wasted guy at the bar is an idiot. (they do think that, take it from someone who has learned that first hand) drink in moderation, dont hate yourself cuz u want to get loose on the weekends. you only get one life to live, live it up. good luck my friend.

Most people who abuse alcohol do so in their college years, whether or not they attend college. About 80% quit or learn to moderate as soon as they start taking on adult responsibilities.

    Drink Too Much?:

(Very cool drinking website, good info, nonjudgmental)

You could check your local library for books by Jack Trimpey (founder of RR) or Jim Christopher (Founder of SOS).

I got involved with online recovery groups (and recovery from AA groups), it was enough support for me. RR,SOS, & SMART recovery all have on line groups.
